Both Moody's and JP Morgan have issued financial outlooks for the U.S. newspaper industry that suggest harder times ahead.
Moody's is expressing particular concern that newspapers are not changing rapidly. JP Morgan has provided analysis for five newspaper companies and predicted the cost-cutting and newsprint savings of the last year will not carry forward --- thus the bleak forecast.
Meantime, an IDC study is indicating an accelerated growth in online advertising, akin to reports in recent weeks.
