Oprah Winfrey brought Twitter co-founder Ev WIlliams on Friday to try to Tweet (video below from YouTube). She professed to like it, and within two days, Twitter has seemingly added 1.5 million users, including hundreds of thousands specifically for her following @oprah.
The Oprah effect is evident everywhere in books, housewares, even presidents. Last week's New York Times piece provided some form of validation to Twitter. But Oprah is the topping on the cake.
What will be interesting in the time ahead is whether last week, which featured Ashton Kutcher and CNN surpass one million followers, will be the time Twitter turned the corner and began to be a commercial entity or jumped the shark and became a technology someone else will surpass.
