The Aspen Institute has been the host of a conference this week on media and democracy. One panel took on the topic of the future of newspapers and produced two insightful observations:
1. The unit of consumption isn't the paper, it's the article.
2. That unit might best be a Wiki updated by reporters and editors.
These observations came not from someone in the newspaper business, but from Marissa Mayer of Google, its vice president of search products and user experience.
