MediaNews, the U.S. newspaper chain, plans to introduce the individualized newspaper --- it calls it "individuated" --- in a so-far-undisclosed market later this year. (Update: The New York Times reports it's the Los Angeles Daily News.)
The principle is to deliver online content to a printer through a phone line three or four times weekly in conjunction with their home-delivered newspaper. There is the possibility that the printer, ink and other technology will be subsidized somehow.
in a way this delivers on the notion that news organizations sit on a lot of content that never arrives to wanting customers. This plan relieves some of that.
