TalkingPointsMemo is one of the darlings of indy/alt media, largely because of its determined and thorough-going coverage in places others don't typically dwell. What's interesting in the speech from founder Josh Marshall is how mainstream he sounds, a real departure from what a typical alt-media leader might have said two or three years ago : A realistic sense of media fragmentation, a desire to cover what isn't covered, and a business model that isn't naive.
