What it looks like isn't easy to parse into a few lines. Buttry's post is generous --- he probably could make a lot of money selling the advice behind closed doors --- and definitive.
Some of the skills journalists need: an understanding of metadata, a sense of geolocation, social media, tagging, archiving, data, design, development, and a rethink of what constitutes investigation. He articulates the sales challenge, the marketing approaches, the needs for executives to reexamine their priorities, and the qualities of an organization with its heart in the mission.
It is the latter point he is most emphatic about: The effort on mobile must be directed from the top and seen as a priority, or else it will not work.
