Jason Preston raises the question in Eat Sleep Publish: Should a newspaper have an Internet section?
There was a time I would have agreed that a paper needed the equivalent of an Internet Life section. But I think we've come past that, to the point that almost every page of the paper needs to reflect the prominence of digital content and many stories a day need to reflect our involvement as information consumers in the digital sphere.
We've recently appointed a digital life beat specialist, and while she's the lead hand, she's one of several people routinely reporting on Internet issues in our newspaper and online. We need to come at the issues from all sorts of places and present the issues in all sorts of places.
