Ratings and reviews are now commonplace on many media sites, and the question ahead for conventional news organizations is the degree to which they're employed. The days of self-interests dominating the R and R scene are done, thanks in small part to technology but mainly due to the marketplace sussing out false flattery and nastiness and essentially serving as a community editor.
The challenge for media is to let those other than their own do the criticizing.
