The latest data from the Forrester Research group suggests 57 per cent of Canadians are active at least monthly in social networking. That is the highest number of so-called "joiners" of any country Forrester surveys.

Canada also has a larger number of creators, spectators and critics of social networking. Having said that, while Canadians are the strongest users of social networks, South Koreans remain the most active users of social media.

Data are a little vague, but Facebook recently indicated Canadians hold about 12 million accounts, roughly one-third of the population. Twitter has higher-than-typical penetration in Canada, too.
