The Google experience is going to change considerably as Gmail rolls out Buzz in the next few days across the system.

Buzz aims to leverage Gmail into more social networking. While it's linking to Flickr and Twitter, it's also a bit of a shot across the bow to their kin.

Its mobile application is a layering of Google Maps to permit location-based networking.

Its initial look, which it promises will refine over the weeks and months, is a lot less cluttered than the networks. What remains unclear is if it's late enough in the game to make participation less likely.

Google has released Mail Goggles, a new feature for Gmail that helps you avoid those indiscriminate moments of sending inappropriate mail.
You can go to the settings, click through to the labs, and program your Gmail account to prompt you with a skill-testing question at particular times of the week --- say, late Friday or Saturday night, when you might be a little vulnerable --- before you can press the Send button.
No, it's not a joke. Everyone I've mentioned it to so far wishes it had been here a long time ago.
